The Grasshopper, Timely Transformation

Updated: May 23, 2020

God has always given me the words that fill my head. Now, I know that is a fairly normal statement and as you read this you may say, yes - duh - He does for everyone. But what I am saying here is God will actually give me one defining word - placed in my head at just the right moment for just the right time. I can best describe this as if a word (one word) drops from above and sits in my soul and it is so definite that I know I am to pursue this word. Its meaning, different definitions, Hebrew, Greek translations and to study its Biblical meaning and history. As with each time, the Lord will reveal a great mystery which confirms the times, events or atmosphere in the current time. For example, the Lord gave me the words - Shaking, Expose and Introspection all within a 3 month period. All words were studied respectively. The word shaking came in a dream with a picture of asphalt cracked wide open. And the Lord said, I will begin to shake things wide open with a great shaking. In the normal there were great shifts and movement happening around my church, my family, my city and my nation and the world. This was in January 2020. Then in February the word was Expose. The Lord says things will be exposed. He was doing and causing great exposure. And true to His word - people began to be exposed. Many lies were beginning to unravel. The country of China was hiding information on a worldwide pandemic Covid 19 and it was being exposed to the world. People began to rise up and show their nature and their true hearts from the personal people I know to the world level in governments and heads of business to name a few. Again in February 2020, the Lord gave the third word of Introspection which means to look into one’s soul to self-evaluate. To take a true inward look to self check. Well, all of these words come full circle together. March 2020, the world has been stricken with the Covid 19 virus which began in late Dec 2019 in China.

Today as I write this we are in quarantine with social distancing in our state as well as many across our nation. There are stories after stories from the whole world being affected by this. There are stories of life, death, courage, determination, deceit, hatred, racism, cultural outrage, etc. So God did say there would be a SHAKING, things would get EXPOSED and each person would have a moment of INTROSPECTION. And as He faithfully does deliver these guiding words HE has given me more new words to see His mysterious ways.

It is God who is doing something here as He begins to give me new words. The Lord gave me the word RESET and it came like a triumphant statement. God is RESETTING! He is resetting countries, cultures, hearts, minds, attitudes, environments, economies, churches, leaders, religions, any and everything. Complete systems are being RESET. God’s grace is RESETTING! WOW! Through all this time of what some have been so fearful of (Covid 19) God’s Glory began to shine. Miraculous healings and encounters with the Lord have been testified all over the world. Just today, a man in the hospital testifies God told him that he was completely healed. The Lord spoke to him in the middle of the night and this was after a dyer medical report that the doctors could do no more. His lungs were almost completely full - antibiotics not working. Then in the middle of the night the Lord tells him you are healed! He (the man) feels like a heavy man is sitting on him at night and he can not breathe when in an instant it is like a gush of wind and breath enters his lungs. He knows in this moment the Lord has healed him. The doctor comes in the morning and is stunned - he asks the sick man if he is a praying man which is confirmed and then the doctor says he has seen prayer heal people. The man says NO - God Healed Me! God’s Glory!! The RESET will lead to a great revival and the return of prodigals and the wayward Christian to see God. Some for the very first time.

I begin to hear the Lord say the word grasshopper and I think no probably not the Lord speaking. It can be so easy to think, why would the word be grasshopper and dismiss it. So, I ignore the word as if it was only my imagination thinking the word grasshopper. A few days later, a blessed Pastor comes to our church and at the end of a glorious Word from God, he begins to speak of other plagues happening in the earth along with Covid 19. He describes enormous grasshoppers (Locusts) in Africa.

The very next day I see this on a weather channel news feed. And then a couple of days later I hear it again, GRASSHOPPERS. And I hear it but a thought of nooooo… goes through my mind. I don’t want to press into that word. I ask God, in my mind, “am I to prepare for giant grasshoppers?” So I tuck it inside - knowing I heard it but hesitating on if this is a door I am to open and study. A few days later, I am sitting with my husband (a great man of God) and we are fellowshipping - sharing what the Holy Spirit is saying and showing and it hits my spirit again - This time I acknowledge it and I bring it up in this moment. I share that the Lord has been giving me the word grasshopper. I share a news feed with him from Africa and the plague of grasshoppers (Locusts) swarming. It is in this moment I know the Lord is speaking so I immediately submit to the study of this word and what the Lord is saying. Asking for forgiveness for my delay. As I begin to seek scripture and eagerly now awaiting for God to unfold the mystery, I am led to Isaiah 40:21-22 KJV Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.

Mind you it is in this moment that I realize I thought the Lord was trying to have me study the plagues for what was to come and here He is speaking and leading me to see my worldly position and that I dwell under His covering like a grasshopper. Not small at all, just a difference in dwelling point.

Some interesting facts about grasshoppers are that from where they stand they are not small at all. Their perspective is different. They can leap 10 times their height and leap forward 20 times their length. God dwells in heaven and the inhabitants (us) are as grasshoppers dwell on land but comparing the two they both dwell. The scripture therefore connects God’s life to the life of the inhabitants (us) are as grasshoppers all dwelling together.

Early on in Numbers 13, it tells of God speaking to Moses telling him to send some men to explore the land of Canaan. Moses sends the men to explore the new land and they are to see what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many. What kind of land do they live in: Is it good or bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or fortified? How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there trees in it or not? Do your best to bring back some of the fruit of the land. So they went and explored the land. They gave Moses this account: Numbers 13:27-28 “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there. Verse 33 We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

The people get scared when they see themselves small. This is the moment when their lack of faith and obedience prevents them from ever entering the promise land. How many times in our own lives do we to feel as small as a grasshopper? We see ourselves from the perspective of being little, not strong enough and that bigger things or things we believe to have more power and authority over us can actually hold us down because of our lack of size or strength or ability. Maybe, just maybe, we can learn more about ourselves by a deeper biblical look into the grasshopper and how the study of this little God created species can actually show us how we too dwell in a much greater way with God then would sometimes think otherwise.

The grasshopper has an extraordinary jump. From its perspective each leap because of the height and distance is like jumping and getting glimpses of heaven. How transforming to be able to transform your atmosphere by just leaping up and forward. A totally new perspective of great proportions. Not only do grasshoppers have the ability to transform their perspective but it’s greater than that. Here is the fun part! When grasshoppers get together in a large group their bodies and their minds actually change. They change into Locusts. Scientists have studied and tried to identify a baby form of a locust and do you know they could not find any babies. What they learned was that when the desert is in extreme drought, grasshoppers will congregate on any small tiny areas of moist grass they can find. These patches get so crowded the grasshoppers can not move without rubbing up against one another, and this is when their brain chemistry literally changes. Their serotonin levels rise, their bodies harden (completely change), they eat more, mate more and they develop a group mind. At this point they fly off together - millions strong in search of food. “Talk about a Revival.”

Isaiah says that we are as grasshoppers. From where God dwells we would seem tiny from His viewpoint. Many times we can get lost in our own uncertainty and concerns. It comes into play now especially when times get tough, we glimpse a different spiritual possibility. We gather into community to support one another. This is were we become strong, find a voice and inspire each other and other communities. When our connections are strong, no one or anything can divide us. It is interesting to view ourselves as grasshoppers as we come together in unity seeking God just as the grasshoppers come seeking water. It is through this process of seeking and searching and asking where we become transformed. There is nothing greater than dwelling with God. How big we actually are! We have all heard the scripture, Proverbs 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Just as these small grasshoppers came together closer and closer in the water their bodies rubbed together actually transforming their bodies in to a harder shell like covering and completely changing color and becoming migratory locusts. These are the like minded Holy Spirit filled believers. Christians have had to come together in different ways now and congregating has taken on a different face. Where we could gather closely in church we are now gathering close together online seeking and searching and asking more than ever who is God. Getting closer to God more now than ever before. We are in a transforming moment in time and what came to harm in the form of Covid 19 is being used by God to transform each and everyone of us. There is a great swarm about to take place. Like the transformed grasshopper-locust we too have become renewed, reset, strengthened, sharpened, like minded and ready to swarm to feed the Gospel of Jesus in this great coming time of Harvest. A revival like never seen before it about to take place and this time is a time to come closer to God and be prepared and ready for the New Pentecost is us upon us and Jesus Christ is coming soon. The right time is now, are you ready to be transformed? Are you ready to dwell fully and committed to the Lord? Now is the time to find you place dwelling under the covering tent of the Most High.
